ADVERTISEMENTS
Perhaps I’m mistaken, but I consider myself a fairly typical resident of West Linn. I get involved here and there. I try to keep up with the news of my community while juggling the lives and activities of a young family.
Sure, I’ve gone to a few Neighborhood meetings, to Planning Commission and to City Council, but only to discuss a matter that directly involved the street that I live on. Beyond that, I admit, my attendance is spotty at best.
But, like many, my not going to those sorts of meetings all of the time doesn’t mean that I don’t care about my community. Like others who don’t attend all of the meetings, I’m still vested in wanting to make sure that West Linn remains a great place to live.
Again like many, I voted for City Council and mayoral candidates who I thought would represent balanced interests and opinions and who would help West Linn to thrive. From conversations that I have had with friends and neighbors, I know that I am not alone in my dismay and frustration over the behavior of current elected officials. The current situation is untenable at best.
As a voter, I am asking all of my elected officials to put aside the accusations, disrespectful behavior, divisive actions and intolerance and get back to the business at hand – the people’s business.
You were elected to office to attend (and stay at) meetings and to work towards solutions that help West Linn. Recently, that work has been seriously derailed and compromised.
